I generally don’t make promises, but hopefully this one can stick. Power Header plans to bring you OUR prediction of what’s going to happen in the upcoming weekend’s games. While we’d much prefer to predict MLS games, we’ve got to work with what we got.
Manchester United v. Southampton
While Manolo Gabbiadini is in decent form for Southampton this season, we’re not convinced that the Italian striker is going to be enough for the Saints. Manchester United might not be at their historic best, but with the form they’ve been in, especially Zlatan, it’s hard to say that they’re going to lose to Southampton…so we won’t.
Prediction for the EFL Final: Manchester United 2-0 Southampton
Leicester v. Liverpool
Even though Leicester won the league in arguably the most ridiculous season in history, they’ve been back to their expected garbage this season. Liverpool on the other hand, have been in generally good form this season. They’ve slipped up since the turn of the New Year, but with the attacking quality the Reds have in the likes of Mané, Firmino, and Lallana, Leicester’s shaky defense with Danny Simpson at right back won’t be able to hold down the fort.
Prediction: Liverpool 3-1 Leicester
Chelsea v. Swansea
Swansea have seen their form get a little better since their abysmal start to the season and are now on their third manager. Chelsea have been in incredible form all year, maintaining quite a strong hold of first as Conte’s 3-4-3 has taken the Premier League by storm. The gap in class between the two sides is going to prove to be far too much for the Swans (maybe they would be better off keeping American hero Bob Bradley).
Prediction: Chelsea 4-0 Swansea
Tottenham v. Stoke
While generally it would be difficult to say Spurs isn’t going to win, this week is a little different. Spurs went crashing out of the Europa League midweek after losing on aggregate to Gent. Yes, Gent. Spurs might come into the game looking to make up for it, but we would expect the North Londoners’ morale to be a little low. Even with Stoke being as inconsistent as they are and playing at White Hart Lane, we’re giving them a chance in this one.
Prediction: Tottenham 1-1 Stoke (Harry Kane DEFINITELY scores btw)
Everton v. Sunderland
Everton have been the team to beat in 2017, as they’ve strung together an impressive run of games including their absolute thrashing of Man City orchestrated by the genius of Tom Davies. While we’d love to see David Moyes return to Goodison Park and get a result against his former club, we just really can’t see that one happening. Tom Davies (we hope) and Lukaku are just going to be too much for the Black Cats.
Prediction: Everton 3-0 Sunderland
Hull v. Burnley
Hull might suck, but Burnley are even worse away from home. Marco Silva has done a decent job trying to turn things around at Hull and Burnley lost to Lincoln midweek, so we’re going to put our faith in Silva’s efforts in this surely boring game.
Prediction: Hull 1-0 Burnley
Crystal Palace v. Middlesbrough
Both teams are in the heat of the relegation battle and are desperate to get a win. Crystal Palace would normally be thought to have home field advantage, but there’s nobody more critical of Palace this season than their fans. Middlesbrough will look to exploit the poor morale around the club. No matter what, both teams will be going into this game with an attacking mindset looking for goals.
Prediction: Crystal Palace 2-2 Middlesbrough
Watford v. West Ham
Watford and West Ham have been pretty average this season and that’s not going to change this weekend. Watford brought in some decent signings in January and West Ham just returned from training in Dubai. However, Watford’s defense has been far from solid and if Andy Carroll is in form he could cause some real problems for the back four, but that’s a big if.
Prediction: Watford 1-1 West Ham
West Brom v. Bournemouth
West Brom have been surprisingly good this season and find themselves in 8th. We’re big fans of Eddie Howe and his Bournemouth team are the only team that’s below West Brom in the table that have been the Baggies. We want to put faith in Bournemouth, but are expecting Nacer Chadli and West Brom to come out winners from this one.
Prediction: West Brom 2-1 Bournemouth
